Oscar Wagelie Obituary

Oscar (Mick) Wagelie passed away peacefully on May 30, 2009 due to a short term illness. Mick was born May 19, 1922 in Bellingham, Washington. He grew up in Blaine and graduated from Blaine High School. Mick served his country proudly in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. During his mission over France, his airplane was shot down. Mick was captured by the Germans and remained a Prisoner of War from March 2, 1944 until April 1945. After the war Mick returned to Blaine, met and married the love of his life, Nora. The two were married 62 years. Mick worked over 30 years with Border Brokerage. After his retirement, Mick loved to take Nora to Arizona were they spent many winters. Mick is survived by his wife, Nora; son, Carl and daughter-in-law Connie; grandchildren, Kelsey and Tyson Wagelie; Lauren Pickering and Christen Ruiz; daughter, Laurie Wagelie; granddaughter Bertina; and two great grandchildren. A service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 702 G. St., Blaine, WA on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Please sign the Book of Memories, light a candle and leave your condolences for the family at www.JernsFuneralChapel.net
