Shelby Queen Obituary

Shelby was born in Arlington, WA, and was a lifelong resident of Bellingham. She attended Glad Tidings Academy where she was involved in music, basketball and volleyball. She also played tennis for Sehome High, and won some local junior tennis tournaments as a young girl. Music was probably her greatest gift, however. She had an incredible ear and began to play piano on her church worship team when she was 11. After graduation, she attended Portland Bible College where she majored in music. Shelby later studied to become a nurse, which she thoroughly enjoyed, until a severe back injury made that no longer possible. She later assisted her dad in coaching tennis at Bellingham High, and was the official scorekeeper for the Bellingham High volleyball and basketball teams. Shelby is survived by her parents, Steve and Nancy Chronister, her sister Tracy Leach (Mike), brothers Dan Chronister (Alex), Doug Chronister (Joe) and Rick Chronister (Meghann). She adored her nieces Taylor, Jordan and Frankie. She was especially close to her cousin Olivia, whom she loved and called her daughter. Her father, Michael Queen, predeceases her. A celebration of Shelby's life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 2 at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Church in Bellingham.

Shelby was a bright light to me in bldg 512. I appreciated her consistent smile, and seemingly endless interest in how things were going for me. Her kindness was always sincere. She will definitely be missed. I am eager to reconnect with her in eternity! I'm sure she was met with our Lord's open arms of Love and approval. We lift her family and friends up in prayer.

Dear Nan & Steve,

I am deeply saddened by the loss of your beautiful Shelby. I knew her only through you, Nan, but that was enough to know that she was a lovely, caring young woman.

There really are no words, my heart aches for your pain, the sudden loss. I really enjoyed getting to know Shelby and am grateful for that. She did think of others first, she would always ask me, "Hows your husband", no matter how she may be feeling. My thoughts are with you Nan, Steve, Olivia and the rest of the famiy. God's speed, hurry home Shelby.

In life so many people touch us randomly
Then gone they go their way
Some we wish could remain with us
They're the one's we wish could stay
But alas there is our lives to live
Leading lives we all drift apart
But there are some real special ones
Who will remain here in our heart
Your Mom and I were kids ourselves
You and Tracy infants like my own
Off and on our shoulders rubbed
Till you were fully grown
Questions you once let bother you
You now have answers for
The cares of this old cruel world
won't bother you now anymore
Well Shelby thanks for those moments
There are some times we had some fun
Maybe we can take up where we parted
When my time here is finally done....
