Bellingham, Washington - Our mother, Wanda Williams (McConnaughey), has passed on May 20, 2023 at the age of 89. She was raised in Ferndale, Wa. Her children Dale, Jana, Patrick and Dean will miss this wonderful woman's smile, laughter, and her fried chicken and gravy.
Wanda had 4 children but was a mother to many many more. She helped kids who were in a bad situation find the help they needed. She had foreign students from all over the world come and stay to learn English, while going to college. Many of these students made her famous for her fried chicken and sense of humor. Some students stayed for years instead of months. Many stayed in touch with her until her passing. She made such an impact on their lives and they appreciated her for all she did for them.
Wanda was the Executive Director of the local level of the Miss America scholarship program in Redmond, Wa. She took the girls to be in parades, perform at different venues, and prepared them for life giving them confidence to do their best.
She has joined our father, Gordon, and the rest of her family. We will miss you dearly but can't help but laugh and smile when we think of our wonderfully kind prankster of a mother. Have fun and know we are going to be fine and we love you so much.
