South Beloit, IL - Carl J. Briscoe, 99, of South Beloit, IL, passed away on October 30, 2025 at Alden Meadow Park Rehabilitation and Rehab Center in Clinton, WI. He was born January 30, 1926 in South Beloit, IL, the son of Oliver and Sylvia (Dance) Briscoe. Carl was a 1943 graduate of South Beloit High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II and was stationed in Norfolk, VA. He married Jeanette M. Bowles on June 15, 1947 in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Beloit, WI. Carl was employed by Fairbanks Morse as a supervisor of production and inventory control for 41 years, retiring in 1988. Carl was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he sang in the church choir. He was a longtime member of the South Beloit American Legion where he held a position in all offices including the Commander rank. Carl served on the South Beloit High School board for 9 years and was the Mayor of South Beloit, IL for 4 years. He enjoyed camping with family at Firefly Lake in Northern Wisconsin, had a love for growing and sharing flowers with family and friends and dancing with his wife. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette; son, Stephen (Cindy) Briscoe of Rockton, IL; daughter, Kelly (Timothy) Hoagland of Rock Falls, IL; grandchildren, Eric (Stacey) Briscoe, Thomas Briscoe, Adam (Katie) Hoagland, and Erin (Jonathan) Lower; great grandchildren, Norah, Elise, Corrine and Lucy Lower and Colton Hoagland; step grandchildren, Jacquie (Chad) Seymour and Jennifer (Larry) Rowlett; step great grandchildren, Ryan VanSchelven, Kaden VanSchelven, Payton Seymour, Colton Rowlett, and Taylor Rowlett; sister, Marilyn (Buck) Ruppert; nieces and nephews. Carl was predeceased by his parents; brother, Wilbur; and sister, Beverley Stauffacher. The family would like to thank Beloit Reginal Hospice for the care given to Carl. A Memorial Service for Carl will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 617 Saint Lawrence Ave., Beloit, WI. with Rev. Amy Waelchi officiating. Private Inurnment will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation of remembrance will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service in the church.
