Gordon Badertscher Obituary

Janesville, WI - Gordon Leo Badertscher, age 86, passed away at Cedar Crest Home in Janesville, Wisconsin, on June 10, 2025. He was born January 6, 1939, in Rock Township, Wisconsin, the son of William and Gladys Badertscher. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1957.

Gordon was drafted in the United States Army and served until December 6, 1963, attaining the rank of Specialist Fourth Class. He earned the Expert Rifle Badge-the Army's highest marksmanship qualification-and was on active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

On September 12, 1964, he married Alice Marie Powers. The couple raised three children: Barry, Becky, and Julie.

He spent his career as a salesman with Chambers & Owens, retiring in 1998. A competitive fast-pitch softball pitcher, Gordon earned the nickname "The Whip" for his incredible bat speed. He continued to play both in the Army and on local teams well into his sixties. He also loved playing cards, dancing, and cooking his famous lasagna. Above all, he cherished attending the sporting events of his children and grandchildren.

Gordon is survived by his former wife, Alice Marie Cassidy; children: Barry (Amy McCann) Badertscher, Rebecca Padera, and Julie Fustok; eight grandchildren: Chance (Hanna), Cy (Beth), Cade, Roman, June, Zane, Samia, and Shaden; one great granddaughter, Mia; and his brothers, David and Leonard. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gladys Badertscher; his siblings, Noreen, Nancy, and William; and his longtime companion, Joyce Trewyn.

A brief service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 23, 2025, at Schneider Life Celebration Center, followed by a celebration luncheon until 3:00 p.m. SCHNEIDER FUNERAL DIRECTORS is assisting the family. For online condolences and guestbook, please visit: www.schneiderfuneraldirectors.com
