James Deeds Obituary

Roscoe, IL - James A. "Jim" Deeds, 82, of Roscoe, IL, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025 in Javon Bea Hospital, Rockford, IL. He was born November 27, 1942 in Berkley, West Virginia the son of Jimmy and Carolyn (Wood) Deeds. Jim was a 1959 graduate of Cleveland West High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. Jim married Barbara Halterman in 1964. He married Barbara Behn in 1976. Later, Jim married Janet Hillison Eggen on January 7, 1995 in Plymouth UMC. Jim started his working career at General Motors in Cleveland, OH. He attended night school during this time to receive his CPA. Jim then was employed by Honeywell, Warner and Swasey as an accountant. Later, Jim went to work for Bendix Corporation as a comptroller where he traveled to various locations and companies. In 1984, Jim purchased the Bendix Tool & Die Division and in 1986, Jim changed the name to Besly Corporation, retiring in 2005. Jim was an avid golfer and a talented musician playing several instruments. He belonged to the Rotary Club of Beloit where he served as treasurer, was a member of the Country Club of Beloit and later the Beloit Club, and was on the board of directors for the YMCA. Jim was a member of Plymouth United Methodist Church for over 30 years and served as the treasurer. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Janet; children, James Deeds Jr., Daniel Deeds, Eric (Linda) Deeds, Allison (Stuart) Templeton, Sally (David) Ramsey Sr., Dale (Judy) Eggen Jr., Deborah (Steve) Hahn and Evelyn (Harry Flora Jr.) Eggen; daughter-in-law, Peggy (Pat) Kinkade; grandchildren, Natalie, Samuel, Jeremy (Jenny), David Jr., Jacqueline (Jacob), Collin (Molly Jo), Kevin (Lizzie), Lindsey, Kelly and Matthew (Emily); great grandchildren, Jason, Lilionna, Nora, Jonathan, Janelle, Jocelynn and Rowan; brother, Jack Deeds; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Jonathan Eggen; sister, Janet Jasper; and sister-in-law, Diane Deeds. Funeral service for Jim will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2025 in Plymouth United Methodist Church, 5614 Co. Hwy H, Orfordville, WI, with Pastor David Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Plymouth Cemetery with Military honors accorded by the V.F.W. Post #2306. Visitation of remembrance for Jim will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Visitation will also be from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to Plymouth United Methodist Church, Plymouth Cemetery, Rotary Club of Beloit or VetsRoll.
