1935 - 2026

Beloit, WI - Leslie "Sonny" Hollis, 90, of Beloit, WI, passed away at Willowick assisted living in Beloit on Thursday, January 1, 2026. Leslie was born in Beloit, on August 21, 1935, the son of Leslie and Edith (Lawson) Hollis. He attended Beloit Memorial High School and called Beloit home throughout his entire adult life. He married the love of his life, Jean Mary Krantz on May 12, 1955, and they had three children: Cindy, Lonnie and Mark. Sonny was a hands-on fix-it, build it, kind of person. Whether electrical or mechanical, he was known for being able to fix just about anything; he would regularly say, "If it worked once it'll work again". He utilized his passion at Warner Electric where he worked for over 30 years as a Group Lead Electrician. When a piece of equipment needed repair, it was not uncommon to hear someone say, "go get Sonny, he can fix it". Prior to Warner Electric he worked at Austins TV Repair where he repaired TV's, radios and installed antenna towers. His free time at home was spent in his workshop tinkering and repairing. Music was also a passion, and he mastered multiple instruments including guitar, bass, banjo and steel guitar. He played in multiple different country/western bands throughout the years and happily shared his love of music with anyone willing to chat or learn. He was a very curious person with additional interests in photography, woodworking and Amateur "Ham" Radio where his call sign, WB9DIL, could be heard across the airwaves for over 70 years. He was known for saying that he could live multiple lives and never get a chance to explore all his interests. Sonny is survived by his two sons: Lonnie (Laurie) Hollis and Mark (Heather) Hollis; grandchildren, Jessica and Jason Juno; Ryan, Erin, Alexia, Corey, and Annika "Annie" Hollis; sisters-in-law, Margaret Hollis and Donna Haase; many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. Sonny was predeceased by his wife, Jean; his daughter Cynthia (Hollis) Juno; his parents; and his three brothers, Gerald "Pete", Donald and Dennis. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Willowick and Beloit Regional Hospice for the outstanding care and compassion that they provided. A Visitation of Remembrance for Sonny will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI, with sharing of memories to follow.
