Thomas Quick Obituary

Beloit, WI - Thomas Harry "Tom" Quick, 82, passed away on July 11, 2024, in Janesville, Wisconsin. Born on March 9, 1942, in Beloit, Wisconsin, Tom was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandpa whose life was marked by his dedication to his family and community. Tom graduated from Beloit Catholic High School before furthering his education at Milton College, UW Madison, and Northern Illinois - DeKalb where he received his Masters degree. He proudly served in the Air Force for two years, where he honed skills that would benefit him throughout his life. His career included significant roles as an agent and field agent with the Internal Revenue Service and later as a financial planner and business owner of Quick Taxes & Accounting. A devout member of the Catholic Church, Tom's faith played a central role in his life. He was known as a "big brother" to his cousins and took great care of his parents, embodying the spirit of service both in his personal life and in his community. He served as a Confirmation religious education teacher, Cub Scouts youth leader, and volunteer basketball team coach. Tom's hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening, and storytelling. He was also a passionate music lover, a dedicated Wisconsin sports fan, and enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. Tom loved traveling "out west" - specifically the years he lived in Idaho with Mari. His children remember fondly his well-planned and generous family vacations together over the years. Tom is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mari; his children, Suzanne Prochazka, Rosanne (Jerry) Urbik, Sam Quick, and Katie Quick (Len Walls); his granddaughters, Natalie Prochazka, Amelia Urbik, Avery Prochazka, and Mallory Urbik; brothers Jim (Jean) Quick, David (Paulette) Quick; cousins Linda (Bob) Worsing, Sandy Grommes, Dick (Cindi) Nenahlo, Jan Nenahlo, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mildred Quick; beloved aunts and uncles, Mildred and Barney Grommes, Florence and Milt Nenahlo, and Marion Anderson; and cousin, Bill Anderson. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Tom will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024 in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 2222 Shopiere Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Bart Timmerman officiating. Visitation of remembrance will be from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Thursday in the church. Daley, Murphy, Wisch & Associates Funeral Home in Beloit, Wisconsin, is assisting the family with arrangements.
