Leone Dusablon Obituary

With heavy hearts, the family of Leone (Harrington) Dusablon announces her peaceful passing on July 7th, 2025, just weeks before her 90th birthday. She was surrounded by her loving family and her cherished cat, Snowball.

Leone was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend who was born in Bennington on August 28, 1935, to George and Pearl (Potter) Harrington. She attended and graduated from Bennington schools and went right to work, employed at The Vermont Restaurant and Union Carbide.

She moved to Milford, Connecticut, with her husband Albert in 1958 where they raised their 3 children. She was employed at both Airlock and Aerospace, making space suits and helmets for over 20 years. After her husband passed in 1985, the Green Mountains were calling her back, so she settled down in Bennington on Rutter Road where she remained until her death.

Upon her return, Leone and her late daughter, Lindy Lynch, envisioned a stronger childcare presence in Bennington and opened up the well known Country Corner Day Care in North Bennington, which she owned and operated on a daily basis for close to 30 years. Because of the loyal dedication of the center manager, and preschool teacher, who was more like a 3rd daughter, Denee Facto, Leone was able to operate Country Corner well into her 70's, when she eventually retired. Country Corner was an iconic staple in the Bennington community, serving thousands of children and families. It was hard to find a child or grown adult that wasn't cared for by "Grandma Leone". She was known, loved, and respected for her firm but fair approach.

After retiring, Leone enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, reading, trips to the casino, and shopping. Leone was also a member at almost every club in Bennington, including The Eagles, where she was Treasurer for over 10 years, VFW, The American Legion, and The Moose. She enjoyed playing Pull Tickets at the various clubs she was a member of. Leone was also a member of the Norshaft Lions Club and volunteered tirelessly for her community every chance she could get. She especially enjoyed volunteering alongside her daughter Lindy at Garlic Fest in Bennington.

Leone is survived by her cherished children, especially her son who lovingly and tenderly cared for her in her home until her death: Richard Dusablon, and Sandy Cavacas (Mike), her "Saint" of a son-in-law, Kevin Lynch; her brother, George "Nicky" Harrington, Jr., (Emily); her 7 grandchildren Matthew, Megan, Faith, Timothy, Pamela, Kristin and Ricky Jr. , 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her daughter, Lindy Lynch, and three brothers: Paul, Thomas and David Harrington and one sister Sandra Pinsonneault.

Calling Hours for Leone will be held from 4pm until 6pm on Monday, July 14th, 2025 at Devlin Funeral Home in Bennington. On Tuesday, July 15th, 2025 at 11am there will be a funeral service at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Bennington, followed by a procession to the graveside service which will be held at St. Columban's Cemetery in Arlington, VT. Leone has always been a cherished part of my life. My children were trusted in her care at Country Corner Daycare many years ago and she has always been a remarkable woman in many lives. Amazingly strong advocate for our children as well as her strength through life´s most challenging tests. May you rest now in Gods hands my friend.
