William W. Groesbeck Sr "Bill" 1927-2010 BENNINGTON Mr. William W. "Bill" Groesbeck Sr., 83, a resident of Morgan Street, Bennington died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Crescent Manor Care Centers following a long illness. Born in Jackson, New York on July 10, 1927, he was the son of the late Edward and Florence Sears Groesbeck, Sr. He received his education in the Jackson schools. Bill married the former Helen Stratton in Granville, New York on January 3, 1952. Mrs. Groesbeck died on August 20, 2010. In earlier years Bill was employed in the Troy, NY area in construction where he was a member of the local union. In earlier years he was a member of both the Eagles Club and Moose Club in Bennington. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and playing cards, especially Pitch and Poker. Survivors include two sons, William Groesbeck of Granville, N.Y. and Herbert Groesbeck of Fair Haven, Vt.; three daughters, Geraldine Ross of Sunderland, Vt., Helen R. Groesbeck-McKittrick of Salem, N.Y. and Suzanna Groesbeck of Bennington; eleven grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren ; two sisters, Ann Blank of Salem, N.Y. and Patricia Harrington of Bennington; nieces, nephews, cousins. Mr. Groesbeck was predeceased by a son, Robert Groesbeck and by a sister and two brothers, Celio Wilson, Edward and Eugene Groesbeck. FUNERAL NOTICE: Memorial services for Mr. Groesbeck will be held from the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME Friday, September 24, 2010 at 9 a.m. with Rev. Robin Greene officiating. Burial will take place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery.
