Cecelia Twenter Obituary

Cecelia Kathleen Twenter, 95 of rural Stover, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025, at Golden Age Living Center in Stover. She was born on September 7, 1929, near Stover, a daughter of Edward and Susanna (Weller) Reusch.
On April 4, 1956, at St. John's Catholic Church in Bahner, she was married to William George Twenter. This union was blessed with nine children: Evelyn, Mildred, Bonnie, Margaret, Mary, Joan, Thresa, Hugo, and Gerald. She lived in the rural Stover area all of her life until she became a resident of Golden Age Living Center in December of 2023. Cecelia spent her life as a homemaker raising her family. She always raised a large garden and enjoyed taking care of the farm animals. She loved watching the wild birds and always made sure to feed them, especially in the wintertime when there was snow.
Cecelia was a lifetime member of St. John's Catholic Church in Bahner, where she received all of the sacred sacraments. She attended St. John's Parochial School and the Oakland School. She belonged to the Ladies Altar Society. The ladies worked together making beautiful quilts for their annual ice cream social. She made gooseberry pies that were always requested. She was very devoted to the church and was heartbroken when it was destroyed by lightning on August 1, 2023.
Cecelia is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Eckhoff and Ron of St. Louis, Mildred Brown and Larry of Sedalia, Bonnie Twenter of Stover, Margaret Wimer and Dale of Jefferson City, Mary Craig and Chris of Cole Camp, Joan Leary and Lee of Troy, and Thresa Alford and Jason of Sedalia; her sons, Hugo Twenter and Tresa of Sedalia and Gerald Twenter of Stover; grandchildren, Matt, Chris, Jamie, Paris, Karen, Susan, Stephanie, Mary, Jonathan, William, Nicholas, Robin, Kelsey, Michael, Jeffery, Laci, Lexi, Lane, Kurtis, Kacey, Stacie, Chad, Daniel, Allan, Qumars, Morgan and Haley; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents, Edward and Susanna Reusch; her grandsons, Lane Twenter and Jeffery Smith; her brother, John Reusch; and five sisters, Marie Bahner, Ida Schader, Lena Reusch, Edna Reusch, and Annie Reusch.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 15042 Chat Avenue, Cole Camp with Father Ben Nwosu officiating. The visitation will be on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with prayer of the Holy Rosary led by Deacon Turf Martin beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The burial will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Bahner.
Pallbearers are William "Bill" Twenter, William Metscher, Kurtis Mahnesmith, Kacey Mahnesmith, Daniel Craig, and Allan Craig.
