John Sowle Obituary

John Knight Sowle passed away on January 9, 2025. He was 92. He was born
March 1, 1932, in Jonesboro. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Frances Ann Sowle, his father, Clyde Sowle, his mother, Katherine Knight Sowle and his brother, Gordon Sowle.
He is survived by his son, Steve Sowle (Gloria) of Benton, Arkansas, daughter, Julie Jenkins (Steve) of Sherwood, Arkansas, five grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren.
John was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and received his master's degree in engineering from The University of Oklahoma. John was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and later worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over thirty years.
John was an avid fisherman, he loved trains, gadgets and piddling in his shop.
He enjoyed camping on Lake DeGray with his father-in-law, his son and his grandson. John was a man of responsibility, and he carried out that responsibility through service to his country, his community and his church.
Most importantly, John was a Christian and he lived his live in a manner that honored God. We are confident that he is now reunited with his beloved wife and has been received into Heaven with that phrase we all long to hear...
"Welcome, good and faithful servant."
Services will be held at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock on Monday, January 20, at 11:00 a.m. The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. A private interment service will be held at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Arkansas.
If you wish to leave a memorial, please consider Brother Paul's Friendly chapel of North Little Rock, or North Little Rock's First United Methodist Church ministries.

My Uncle John or Buddy, as my Dad used to call him, will be greatly missed! I am thankful for the impact he made on my life and his godly influence! We are all better for having known him. It gives me great comfort to know that he is in Heaven reunited to my Aunt Frances, his parents, and my mom and dad.

May God´s perpetual light shine upon John. I knew John as a member of AR Mayflower society. A couple of years ago he admired my Mayflower poster and I gave it to him. He was a very nice gentleman and will be missed.
