Anthony Merino Obituary

Anthony Dubis Merino, 57, of Adams, passed away suddenly on August 8, 2022. Anthony was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on June 16, 1965.

He graduated from Augustana College with a B.A. in English, Ceramics, and Art History and from the University of North Texas with an M.F.A. in Ceramics. Anthony was an extraordinarily talented artist who presented at and curated ceramics shows throughout the United States and internationally. He was an active member of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts. He was a prolific writer, publishing his first review in the January 1993 issue of the New Art Examiner. In the decades since, he published well over 100 reviews on Ceramics, Fine Arts, and Television Criticism. He was well-loved by the Turkish community in the Berkshires.

He is survived by his wife, Tugba Bagis Merino, of Adams; his mother, Barbara Dubis Merino-Mayper, of Denton, Texas; his brother, Dominic (Martha) Merino of Friendswood, Texas; his sister Catherine Merino Reisman (Joseph Steinbock) of Cherry Hill, New Jersey; seven nieces and nephews and two great-nieces. His father, James Anthony Merino, predeceased him.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Our co-worker at Xerox Corp was someone that a lot of people remember, especially for his ceramics that he always had on and around his desk. Tony was a funny guy and he will be missed.
