Charles Mongue Obituary

Mr. Charles "Chuck" Mongue, Jr., 68, of Hancock, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025. Born in Pittsfield, MA, on June 28, 1957, he is the son of the late Charles and Rita Ray Mongue. He grew up in Dalton and graduated from Wahconah Regional High School with the class of 1975.

For the majority of his career, Chuck was employed by Crane and Company, where he worked as a quality control technician. It was from there that he retired after decades of dedicated service. In retirement, he volunteered for the Berkshire Humane Society and RSVP of Pittsfield.

Among many things, he loved all animals and from an early age always had a rescue dog or two keeping him company and keeping him out of too much trouble. Chuck had a unique wit and was quick to zing anyone who got too high on their horse - affectionately referred to by his friends as "Dalton love."

Charles is survived by long-time partner and best friend, Paul Nugent of Lenox, as well as his brother, Michael Mongue (Gina Coleman) of Williamstown, his nephew Diego, and his niece, Garcia. He leaves behind his two rescue dogs Sammie and Barney who are now under Paul's love and care.

We are so very sad that Chuck is gone. He was such a wonderful neighbor and friend for so many years. I will miss his visits, with the pups, walking up the road, his quick come backs, wonderful sense of humor, and last but not least sarcasm. He was one of a kind. Rest in peace neighbor. We will all miss you.

I am so sorry to learn of the passing of Chuck. He was someone who was always positive no matter what and had the most amazing sense of humor. He would always come out with the unexpected and make us laugh at RSVP. I have really enjoyed knowing him. He will be missed greatly; we were lucky to have him. - Lisa Torrey, Director of RSVP-City of Pittsfield
