Dorothy Burdick Obituary

FLORIDA -- Dorothy M. Burdick, 90, of 30 Phelps Road died Sunday at home.

Born in Cheshire on Aug. 9, 1917, daughter of Lewis and Emma Sweeney Briggs, she attended schools there.

Mrs. Burdick was employed by Child Care of the Berkshires for more than 25 years as a cook, retiring in the early 1990s.

She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where she served as a life deaconess and as a member of the flower committee. She enjoyed flowers, beaches and cooking.

Her husband, Aaron A. Burdick Sr., died in June 2001.

She leaves a daughter, Eloise Stevens of North Adams, and two granddaughters.

She was predeceased by a son, Aaron A. Burdick Jr.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Dorothy M. Burdick, who died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, surrounded by her family, will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of North Adams by the Rev. Roy Burdick. Burial will follow in Church Cemetery, Florida. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapel, 521 West Main St., North Adams. The family suggests memorial donations to First Baptist Church of Florida in care of the funeral home. Mrs. Burdick also leaves two grandsons, Thomas Burdick and his wife, Yvonne, and Michael Burdick and his wife, Pamela; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Burdick; a son-in-law, Franklin Stevens; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by nine brothers, Charles, Marshall, Adelbert, Ernest, Lawrence, Henry, Nelson, Stephen and Warren Briggs, and by a sister, Lucy Racicot. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Dear Eloise and family, I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. B passing. She was such a wonderful lady. Always smiling, always a kind word and the best cook for miles around. She will always remain a famous legend at the Child Care of the Berkshires. God Bless you Mrs. B and I know you are in heaven now alongside the love of your Life Mr. B. I am sure he met you at the gates with his special smile and his infamous dance. I love you both.

Aunt Dot was the nicest woman. Every time I saw her, she had a smile on her face. And you couldn't help but smile back. She also gave the greatest hugs ever. We will all miss her. I love you Aunt Dot.
I wish I could be there with the family, but I can't get out of work. I send my love to all of you. God Bless.
