Edith Karlin Obituary
1935-2013 Mrs. Edith Karlin died suddenly on December 5, 2013. She was born on April 1, 1935, the daughter of Pauline and Joseph Siegel. She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1952. She received a bachelor's degree in education from Ohio State University in 1956 and a master's degree in education from the former North Adams State College. She loved teaching which brought her great joy. She also enjoyed traveling, getting together with her friends, reading, taking care of her plants, and listening to Klezmer music. Her family was very important to her. She is survived by her husband, Samuel, to whom she had been married for 54 years; three children, Sharon and Eric of Pittsfield and Joel of New York; a sister, Sylvia Stein of Pittsfield; and two brothers, Leon and Robert Siegel of Boynton Beach, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Starr and a brother, Irving Siegel. FUNERAL NOTICE: SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT CONGREGATION KNESSET ISRAEL AT 10 a.m. ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2013 WITH RABBI DAVID WEINER, SPIRITUAL LEADER, OFFICIATING., FOLLOWED BY BURIAL AT KNESSET ISRAEL CEMETERY. A MEAL OF CONSOLATION WILL FOLLOW AT KNESSET ISRAEL SYNAGOGUE. We were so sad to hear of Edith's passing. She was such a wonderful person with the best sense of humor ever! We loved our holiday "canolli delivery" vist each year to their loving & warm house..they entertained us with their funny stories which we always loved to hear. Our deepest condolences to Sam & the family.

I just learned today about Edith's death. I had the greatest opportunity of working with her at KI in Hebrew School. It was a pleasure to teach with her. She had a great personality ,a warm heart,a great sense of humor, and a great smile. She was always smiling. I will miss her smile. I am glad I got to see her a few months ago and she still had that great smile.

I was so sorry to hear of Edie's death las week. She was a high school classmate and a close friend of Muriel Daniels another classmate who also died some years age. It saddens me to lose a friend from years past . My condolences to her husband Sylvia and Maxine

Mr Karlin, Sharon, Eric and Joel, I am so sorry for your loss. I, at one time, was Mrs. Karlins hairdresser many years ago. She was the sweetest and most caring person. Her work with children inspired me to stay involved in my own childrens education. She was a wonderful woman loved by many. You will be in my prayers as you go through this difficult time.
