Edward Lesniak

1921 - 2014 LEE Edward S. Lesniak, 93, of West Park Street, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014 at his home. Born on June 27, 1921 in Housatonic, he was the son of John and Anna Piontek Lesniak. Ed was a 1939 graduate of the former Searles High School and attended Wentworth Institute in Boston. He served with the United States 8th Air Force as a Teletype Operator in World War II from July 1942 until Christmas Day, 1945. After the service he worked at the former Smith Paper Co. in Lee from 1946 until retiring in 1983 from the then Kimberly Clark Corp. Ed moved from Housatonic to Lee in 1998 where he was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, the Senior League at Greenock Country Club, and was a charter member of the Adams-Budz Post No. 8183 in Housatonic. He and his wife, the former Evelyn M. Mitchell, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on May 7, 2014. In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by two sons; Jack E. Lesniak and his wife, Karen, of Pittsfield, Jim J. Lesniak and his wife, Molly, of Housatonic; two daughters; Christine M. Warywoski and her husband, Peter, of Lee, Jane M. Jones and her husband, Dave, of Kingston, Mass.; four grandchildren; Aaron, Michael, Abby and Alexandra, and three great-grandchildren; Darren, Myles and Kendall. He also leaves two sisters; Louise Sigoski of Great Barrington and Helen Monterosso of Pittsfield. He was predeceased by his brothers, Stanley and Chester, and his sister, Harriet Morin. Ed's family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Hospice Care in the Berkshires for their assistance, care and compassion in recent weeks. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Edward Lesniak will be held on Monday October 13, 2014 at 9:15 AM from the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main Street, Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Sunday, October 12 from 2-5 PM. Friends wishing may make memorial donations to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
