Edward Rheaume, Jr.

1927 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Edward J. Rheaume, Jr., 87, of Pittsfield, died Monday, Sept. 8, at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center in Lenox. Born in Pittsfield on June 10, 1927, the son of Edward J. Rheaume, Sr. and Anna Marie Campion Rheaume, he was a graduate of Pittsfield schools. Continuing his education, he received a diploma in custom furniture upholstery from the Modern Upholstery Institute in Orange, Calif. A Korean War veteran, Mr. Rheaume served with the United States Marine Corps from 1950 to 1953 where he was a military police officer stationed in Nebraska. Mr. Rheaume was an upholstery finisher both by trade and enjoyment. He was employed by the Rice & Kelly Furniture Store and by Halperin's Furniture, as well as owned and operated Hilltop Upholsterers. He retired in 1989. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. He enjoyed traveling to Canada and to Cape Cod. Mr. Rheaume's first wife, the former Jane Jayko Rheaume, died Oct. 25, 1977. His second wife, the former Olivia Eurbin died Jan. 29, 2012. Mr. Rheaume is survived by a brother, Richard L. Rheaume, of Pittsfield; two sisters, Shirley M. Tornicelli and her husband, Val, of Pittsfield, and Carol A. Myers and her husband, Kenneth, of Hernando, Fla.; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Louis and Evelyn B. Cormier. Ed's family would like to thank Dr. Trevor Bayliss, Berkshire Medical Center's Fourth Floor Telemetry Staff, the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association, and Kimball Farms' Wyndemere Unit for their extraordinary care and compassion. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Edward J. Rheaume will be held today, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, C.S.S., officiating. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.

'Uncle Eddie' was my uncle through my Cioci Jane. As a small child, I remember him as patient and pleasant, and enjoyed spending time at their house. R.I.P.
