Ernest Beverly Obituary

Ernest W. Beverly 1918 - 2009 WILLIAMSTOWN Ernest W. Beverly, 91, of 956 North Hoosac Rd, Williamstown, died on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Sweet Brook Care Center. Born in North Adams on Sept. 12, 1918, son of Henry Harrison Beverly and Bessie Sweet Beverly, he graduated from the former Williamstown High School with the Class of 1936 and served in the Navy during World War II, stationed in Oklahoma and California. He was married to L. Madeline Learned Beverly for over 65 years until her passing in August 2008. Mr. Beverly was employed as a machine erector for over 34 years by the former James Hunter Machine Co. in North Adams. In this position, he traveled throughout the United States, Canada, South America and other parts of the world installing textile machinery manufactured by his employer. In 1962 and 1963, during the Cold War, he spent 18 months on-site in Kalinin, Russia, erecting machinery. He enjoyed sharing many stories about his extensive world travels. He was a member of The American Legion, and a member of the Berkshire Royal Arch Masons and Commandery #22, Knights Templar. He leaves three sons, Bruce E. Beverly and his wife, Elise Beverly, of Auburn, Mark W. Beverly Sr. and Tina Beverly of New Ashford, and Dana L. Beverly Sr. of Williamstown; nine grandchildren, Brooke Beverly of Oxford, Lauren (Beverly) Carney of South Kingstown, R.I., Mark Beverly Jr. of New Ashford, Matthew Beverly of Waltham, Sandra Beverly of Worcester, Lucas Beverly of Amherst, Malinda (Beverly) Hayden of North Adams, and Anthony Beverly and Dana Beverly Jr. of Clarksburg; four great-grandchildren, Cole Carney and Brodie, Ashlyn and Delaney Hayden. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Ernest W. Beverly are private. There are no calling hours. Contributions in his memory may be made to The Barton Center for Diabetes Education, P.O. Box 356, North Oxford, MA 01537-0356. The FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPELS at 74 Marshall Street, North Adams, MA is in charge of arrangements.
