Helen Watson

1913 - 2022

Helen Watson, 108, of Rose Manor in Pittsfield, passed away June 22, 2022 at Craneville Place, where she had resided since January 2020.

Born in Pittsfield, MA on December 17, 1913, she one of eight children of Roger and Johanna Manning Gavin.

She attended local schools. Helen was married to William Watson for over 65 years. He predeceased her in 1991.

Mrs. Watson worked for General Electric in the 1940s and then for M. Solomon and A&P. She then returned to General Electric from which she retired in 1979.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially at Sunday dinners.

She is survived by her daughters, Helen O'Brien of East Greenbush, NY, Marian McLaughlin of Pittsfield and Joan Carmona of Pittsfield. Twenty grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, and fourteen great-great- grandchildren.

Mrs. Watson is predeceased by her son, William J. Watson, daughter, Beverly Shogry, son-in-laws, Anthony Carmona, Alfred Shogry, Richard O'Brien; grandsons, Frederick Michael Shogry, Steve McLaughlin and Tom McLaughlin, as well as her granddaughter, Colleen O'Brien Kovacs.

The family would like to thank the staff at Craneville Place for the loving, kind, and compassionate care that was given to Helen during her time there.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, MONDAY, June 27, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by Rev. Joe O'Brien, her grandson. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Craneville Nursing Home Recreation Fund/Sue Kellar, in care of the funeral home.
