Mrs. Holly Jane Huggins Rhind passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025 at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.
Holly was born on July 30, 1947. the daughter of the late Samuel J. Huggins, Jr. and Jane Nelson Huggins. She attended grades 1-6 at the two-room South Lee school, graduated from Lee High School in 1965 and from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1968. She was a registered nurse and a certified case manager specializing in rehabilitation nursing and quality assurance.
On October 18, 1980 she married the great love of her life, John Hatch Rhind. They lived in Virginia Beach and Warren, RI. Upon Mr. Rhind's retirement in 2002, they returned to Stockbridge to be closer to family. John became ill in 2007 and Holly retired to care for him until his death on September 7, 2012. Her mother then fell ill in January 2013 and Holly cared for her until her death on May 6, 2015.
Holly was a firm believer in community service. She was elected to original Stockbridge Housing Authority which was responsible for the building of Heaton Court, whose community center is named for her husband. She was a nine-year member of the Warren, RI Zoning Board and the Touisset Point, RI water trust. She was a member of the Stockbridge Finance Committee from 2002 to 2014. She was a life-long member of the St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association.
Holly is survived by her brother, Michael Nelson Huggins, Sr., and his wife, Mary; and her adored nephews and nieces: Michael Nelson Huggins, Jr., and his wife, Colleen, and their son, Michael Nelson Huggins, III; Michelle Huggins Bartels and her husband, Michael, and their daughter, Maggie and their son, Zachary; Daniel Christopher Huggins and his wife, Jenna, and their son, Carson, and their daughter, Adeline. In addition, she also leaves nine step-grandchildren, four God-children, many cousins near and far, as well as, several very dear friends who celebrated the happy times and supported her during the challenges.
At Holly's request there will be no calling hours. She will be buried along side her husband and parents at St. Joseph Cemetery in Stockbridge on Thursday, September 25, 2025, 10:30AM with Pastor Brent Damrow of the First Congregational Church, Stockbridge, officiating.
