Irma Golden

Irma M. Golden 1953-2010 PITTSFIELD Irma M. Golden, 57, of 4A Randolph Place, Northampton, died Friday at Cooley-Dickenson Hospital in Northampton. Born on April 10, 1953 in Pittsfield, she was a daughter of the late George and Iris Bowery Persip. A Pittsfield native, she had resided in Northampton for the past ten years. She was educated in Pittsfield Schools and received her associate's degree in psychology from Berkshire Community College. She also attended Smith College in Northampton. Ms. Golden was employed as a waitress for over twenty years at Fitzwilly's Restaurant in Northampton. She had also worked for many years as a residential counselor at the Pomeroy House in Pittsfield. She enjoyed playing volleyball, softball, traveling and dining out. She was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She leaves a son; Jerome A. Golden and his wife Shannon of South Hadley. A daughter; Shamiah E. Golden of Belchertown, and a brother; Earl Persip of Pittsfield. She also leaves her three grandchildren; Heaven, Zoe, and Xavier Golden and her companion; Michael Harris of Boston, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former husband; the late John Golden and by two brothers; Alan Nolan and Lloyd Nolan. She was also predeceased by two sisters; Althea Patrick and Tracy Afari. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Celebration of Life for Irma M. Golden who died December 3, 2010 will be held Saturday, December 11th from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Pittsfield American Legion, 41 Wendell Avenue, Pittsfield. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations in memory of Irma may be made to the Bay State Medical Center Children's Cancer Fund in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201 which is in charge of arrangements.
