James Loring Obituary

James E. Loring 1936 - 2008 OTIS James E. Loring, 71, of East Otis Road died Tuesday morning at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on Dec. 18, 1936, in Tyringham, the son of Charles Loring Sr. and Beatrice Rowley Loringm, he was educated in Lee schools. He enlisted in the Army during the Korean War. After his military service, Mr. Loring held several jobs, including driving a delivery truck for Campetti Fuel in Sandisfield. He began working for the Massachusetts Highway Dept. in the early 1970's where he was an equipment operator, retiring on May 27, 2001. He was also a caretaker for the Ashintully Farm in Tyringham for many years. He also enjoyed gardening. He leaves his wife, the former Nellie Mae Wright, with whom he would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on Sept. 19. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, James R. Loring of North Adams; two daughters, Evelyn Deming and her husband, Tim, of Tolland, and Jennifer Alexson and her husband, John, of Sandisfield; four brothers, Charles "Tunk" Loring Jr. and his wife, Dede; Russ Loring and his wife, Margaret; Ben Loring and his wife, Roberta, and Joe Loring and his wife, Evelyn, all of Otis; a sister, Rose Alward and her husband, Walt, of Lenox; two step children, Robert Yeager and Karen Reynolds, both of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren, Timothy, John, Kimmy, Kevin, James, Jeremy, Crystal and Nadia, and with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a nephew, Joseph T. Loring, who died in 1988. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for James Loring will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Union Church in Tyringham with the Rev. Janet McKinstry, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Tyringham Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the KELLY FUNERAL HOME. Friends wishing may make memorial donations to the Union Church or the American Cancer Society in C/O the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238
