PITTSFIELD -- Joan Julia Froio, 90, formerly of 784 North St., died Tuesday at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided for 3 1/2 years.
Born in Lee on May 6, 1917, daughter of Herbert and Julia Cripps Sagendorph, she was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Froio was employed by General Electric Co. for 25 years as a secretary, retiring in 1985.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Her former husband, Rocco R. Froio, died in 1975.
She leaves a son, Richard P. Froio of Pittsfield; a daughter, Patricia A. Convery-DeGroat of Pittsfield; a brother, Joseph N. Sagendorph of Albany, Ga.; a sister, Margaret S. Reynolds of Richmond; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Joseph R. Froio.
FUNERAL NOTICE --A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Joan Julia Froio, who died Nov. 20, 2007, will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Church by the Rev. John C. Salatino, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Froio may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Penna Froio, and a son-in-law, Richard DeGroat. She was predeceased by a grandson, Richard J. Martin; four brothers, Edward, Herbert, Alfred and William Sagendorph; and two sisters, Gladys Stamell and Marjorie Sagendorph.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
