1946-2016 Joanne B. Norton (Ryan) age 69 of Boca Raton, FL, died surrounded by family on February 25th, 2016 after a short battle with cancer. Born August 27, 1946 in Pittsfield, MA to Madeline Rita Brophy and Howard Sergeant Ryan. Joanne was 1 of 4 children. Predeceased by brother, Jack Ryan and sister, Martha Ryan. Survived by sister, Pat Ryan Maluda. Joanne is also survived by daughters, Melissa Norton-Harrington & Kimberly Norton-Schott, granddaughter, Hannah Ryan Schott and former husband, Richard Norton. After moving from Feeding Hills, MA, Joanne lived in Boca Raton, FL for 36 years. She retired in 2004 after nearly 20 years with the Boca Raton Fire Department. Though she moved from Massachusetts in 1979, she had an unrelenting love of the Patriots! Her 3 favorite things in life: her granddaughter, the NE Patriots and Pelicans. Small in stature, but big in heart and love, we remember Joanne as a caring friend, dedicated worker, and loving mother and grandmother. SERVICES: No formal services are planned. Cremation and spreading her ashes in the ocean were her wish. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pelican Harbor Seabird Station.

Melissa, Kim, & Families,
I just heard about Mom's passing today. I am shocked. She and I exchanged emails not too long ago. I pray for strength for you all during the coming weeks, months, years. It is very hard losing a Mother. Joanne was a part of our Fire Dept. family and we will remember her with love. May she be at peace now. As Joanne always ended our conversations, GO PATS!
