John Coty Obituary

John Thomas Coty, Sr., "Jack", passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 19, 2022.

Jack was born in Lee on January 5, 1939, the son of Joseph M. and Lillian Mae Gangell Coty. A life-long Lee resident, Mr. Coty would eventually build his own home on the same property on which he was born.

In his early years, Jack constructed tennis courts, worked at George VanZandt Sheet Metal then eventually owned and operated his own business, Cove Sheet Metal. Jack retired from Foxhollow as its maintenance manager.

Aside from being a dedicated and hard worker, Mr. Coty was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed tinkering with his antique cars and hot rods and spending time with his family at their camp in Vermont. Mr. Coty was a true "Jack" of all trades, always willing to extend a helping hand. He will be deeply missed.

Besides his wife of 65 years, the former Mary Belanger, Jack leaves behind his daughters: Jean Killackey, Linda Wilcox (Glenn), Lori Coty, and Helen Curtin (Jim); and his son, John Coty, Jr. (Judy). Mr. Coty also leaves behind his grandchildren: Eric Killackey, Heather and Cory Wilcox, Jeff and Samantha Homeyer, Mary Luchi, William Shanklin, and Kara and Anita Curtin; his great-grandchildren: Ryder Wilcox, Ollie, Aero and Lazlo Homeyer, and Camron Luchi. In addition, he also leaves behind his brother, Richard Coty, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends, including newly made special friends Sandra, Nathaly and Javier.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Jack's friend and Hospice nurse, Marie.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Coty was predeceased by his siblings: Mary, Rose, Joseph, George, Robert, Marshall, Hattie, Edna, Lillian and Edward; and grandchildren: Christopher Killackey and Kelsey Curtin.

Funeral Services for Mr. John Coty will be held Friday, September 23, 1PM at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held Thursday evening, 4-6PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Western & Central Massachusetts in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
