Joseph Curley Obituary
Born October 13, 1956, in Pittsfield, MA, he was a respected physician for 40 years. Known for the great compassion he showed his patients, he served as chair of anesthesia departments at multiple hospitals across the Northeast, including a long tenure at Berkshire Medical Center. A graduate of Pittsfield High School, he went on to attend Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, and the Saint Louis University School of Medicine, from which he graduated in 1982.
A man of incredible integrity, he held himself to the highest standards throughout his life, both professionally and personally. At the same time, he had an enormous spirit of generosity and an incredibly warm heart that will be dearly missed by those lucky enough to have known him. A beloved husband and father, he worked tirelessly his entire life to support his family, perhaps his greatest legacy in a life of many.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret Penna Curley, also of Pittsfield, MA, as well as his son Daniel and daughter Christina.
Ever a private man, there are no immediate plans for a memorial service. Memorial contributions may be sent to Make-A-Wish at wish.org or Mercy For Animals at mercyforanimals.org. Condolences may be sent to the family by writing to 42 Ashcroft Rd., Valley Falls, NY 12185. The Mahar Funeral Home in Hoosick Falls, NY is assisting the family during this time.
There are truly no words to describe how much he was loved and will be missed.

What a wonderful man. I am so saddened by this news. He was truly passionate about his work in the medical field and about his wonderful wife Mary. She made the blood flow in that man´s body. Every morning I would hear a quick story about Mary at work. He loved her so. Rest in Peace Dr Curley you were my favorite

So sorry to learn of Joe's passing. I was a child hood friend of Joe. We attended North Jr. High School together. We attended the First United Methodist Church Youth Fellowship too. I remember his great sense of humor, quick wit, fun personality and intelligence. We played in a "back yard" band that was a hoot. He was our drummer.
It was smart friends like Joe that made a strong impression on me and and made me want to be the best student I could be, as it was cool hanging out with the smart kids. I remember him making up a Holiday; St. Igor's Day, and trying to convince our Jr. High Social Studies Teacher that it was a "real" holiday - probably in Europe. Not sure she ever bought into the idea, but he sold it. It sounds like he was an amazing man and I know he was loved and will be missed.

Dear Curley Family,
We are stricken to read of Joe' passing. Grew up in the neighborhood with Joe. I was lucky enough to draw him as my anesthesiologist, when my leg was operated on for a complex break. Truly a professional. Know that you are in our prayers and condolences on your loss. May your memories of Joe be a comfort.
