Joseph Haddad Obituary

Joseph Said Haddad, 82 of Dalton, passed away February 23, 2024 in Dunedin, Florida.

Born in Pittsfield on September 21, 1941, he was the son of the late Said and Alice Ashi Haddad.

He was educated at St. Mary's and St. Joseph High School, from which he graduated in 1959. Joe attended Lowell Technological Institute, now the University of Lowell. He graduated in June 1963 with a BS in Industrial Management with a minor in Accounting. Upon graduation, he worked in several different accounting firms in the Boston area and passed the CPA exam in July 1967. While living in Boston he met his wife the former Mary Greaney, and they were married on October 15, 1966. Together they raised four children, Catherine, Suzanne, Stephen, and Andrea.

They moved to Dalton in 1978. In 1979 he became a partner in the accounting firm of Murphy, Riley and Haddad, now known as Lombardi, Clairmont and Keegan CPA. He worked for 57 years as an accountant retiring in 2020.

Joe was communicant of St. Agnes Church and a longtime chair on the finance council. He was an active member of the Dalton Rotary Club serving as treasurer until 2020.

Joe was avid sports fan following the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and other activities throughout the years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to Europe, Maine, and Florida in the wintertime.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Haddad of Dalton. He also leaves his children, Suzanne Drury and husband Todd of Hinsdale, Stephen Haddad and wife Deborah of Cumming, GA, Andrea Wasuk and husband Jeff of Dalton; as well as his sister, Annette Bitar of Kearney, NE. Joe is the beloved Papa to grandchildren Julia, Sofia, Brett, Jake, Annie, and Isobel. He was predeceased by his daughter, Cathy Haddad-Beron in 2007.

Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, celebrated by Rev. Christopher Malatesta, Pastor. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Agnes Academy in care of Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 E. Main St, Dalton, MA 01226.

We looked forward every year to visiting with Mary and Joe on their way home from Florida. These pictures were taken last year. We´ve been friends since the 60´s.
Joe was a wonderful husband to Mary and a devoted father and grandfather.
He will be greatly missed. Our love and prayers are with Mary and the family.
