Joseph Sitzman Obituary

PITTSFIELD -- Joseph J. Sitzman, 59, 3 Robbins Ave., died Tuesday morning at Berkshire Medical Center after a short illness.

Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 18, 1945, son of Joseph G. and Lillian R. Lajoie Sitzman, he attended local schools.

He served in the Army from 1964 until 1967 with the Special Forces and Green Berets, the Welch Fusiliers, and the German mountain troops.

Mr. Sitzman was employed by the city of Pittsfield in the water and sewer and drain departments, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of the VFW Post 448, and a past communicant of St. Mary's Church.

He leaves three sisters, Carol Lovelace, Nancy Squires, and Sharon Casucci all of Pittsfield, a stepson, David Jones Jr. of Pittsfield, two stepdaughters, Laurie Hillard of Pittsfield and Marcell Gadreault of Brewer, N.Y., and five grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Joseph J. Sitzman, age 59, died July 12, 2005. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5 to 7 at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. A prayer service will be held at 7 with the Rev. William D. Furey, pastor of the Berkshire Union Chapel in Lanesborough, officiating. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Veterans Outreach Center in care of the funeral home. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert F. Morrison, and a sister, Ann Vickery.
