Leo Loeb Obituary

Leo Arthur Loeb 1918 - 2008 LEE Leo Arthur Loeb, 90, of 620 Laurel Street, for many years a resident of Lenox and Naples, Fla., died Tuesday at Laurel Lake Center for Health and Rehabilitation. Born in Hillsdale, N.Y., Oct. 17, 1918, son of Julius and Clara Hymen Loeb, he attended local schools. Mr. Loeb was a veteran of World War II serving as a navigator in the Army Air Corps "Flying Tigers" unit. He owned and operated the former Lenox Supermarket on Housatonic Street during the 1950's prior to building the current Loeb's Foodtown on Main Street in 1960. After selling the Market to the Albert family in 1972 he moved to Naples in 1973 where he was a partner in Weinfield-Loeb Realtors for over twenty years. Mr. Loeb returned to Lenox in 2003 and had resided at the Laurel Lake Center since October of 2006. His wife, the former Marion Amazon, whom he married in Pittsfield on Feb. 17, 1945, died July 1, 1988. Mr. Loeb leaves his granddaughter, Melissa Maiorella, and son-in-law Joseph A. Maiorella, both of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. His daughter, Judith A. Loeb, died Feb. 19, 2007. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services and burial for Mr. Loeb will be private and at the convenience of the family.
