Lillian Forrest Obituary

Lillian Forrest, 97, of East Street in Lee, left us on Friday to join her loved ones who have long awaited her arrival.

She was born on January 17, 1921, in Jersey City, NJ to Joseph and Elsie Baggot Abderhalden, she moved to Lee in 1924 and remained there throughout her life. She was the last original Abderhalden that started Abby & Sons Sand and Gravel and developed Abby Court in Lee. Living a hard farm life of the 1920's, work was an everyday way of life.

Lil graduated from Lee High School in 1940 and married her love, Elmer V. Forrest in 1941. During WW II she worked at the Paper Mills, a short time waitressing and later at McClelland Drug Store in Lee to be the "Penny Candy Lady". Through all, she was a mother first, caring for and defending her children until the end.

Lillian is predeceased by her husband, Elmer Forrest and her five brothers: Joe, Link, Ed, Paul and Bill Abderhalden. She is survived by her daughter: Eileen Miller of Toronto, Canada and two sons: David Forrest and his wife Mary Anne and Leonard Forrest of Lee; three grandchildren: David and Kellie Forrest and Michael Miller; four great grandchildren and many friends.

On her request, there will be no calling hours. Following cremation, a spring burial and memorial service will be held.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lillian's memory to the Grace Episcopal Church or the Lee Fire Company in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home 3 Main Street Lee, MA 01238.
