Lysbeth H. Hopkins

1914 - 2013 LENOX Lysbeth Hope Hopkins, 98, of Kimball Farms, died peacefully in her sleep at her home on Feb. 1, 2013. Until the day of her death, she was active and healthy.

Born in East Orange, N.J., on Nov. 19, 1914, she was the daughter of Frederick George and Ola Irene Turkington. She grew up in Port Washington on Long Island, N.Y., and was married there in 1937 to William McNeal Hopkins.

They spent much of their married life in Winchester, Mass. While there, Lysbeth volunteered at Winchester Hospital and the old Mystic School. She was a member and president of the Enka Society. She was also a member of the Parish of the Epiphany and a president of the Women of Epiphany.

After retirement they moved to Derry, N.H., and later to Lenox. In Lenox. she was active in the Trinity Church community and at the Food Bank as well as many Kimball Farms activities.

Her much-loved husband died in March, 2000.

She leaves four children. David and his wife. Janet. of Sherman, Conn., Jonathan and his wife, Peggy, of Brooklin, Maine, William and his wife, Susan, of Exton, Pa., and Libby of Leverett, Mass., six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Lysbeth was a bright light. Whether caring for and enjoying family and friends, working for school or church, or joining her husband to savor the Boston Symphony or explore a Greek island, she offered those around her a helping hand, abundant good humor and a warm heart. She was always the best of company.

MEMORIAL NOTICE: There will be a Memorial Service at Trinity Church at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, followed by a reception at Kimball Farms.

Donations in her name may be made to Rosie's Place, 889 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA, 02118, or online at: www.rosiesplace.org. Rosie's Place provides for the needs of indigent women.
