Maegan Dix Obituary

Maegan Ann Dix, 21, of Plainville, MA, passed away August 28, 2017 at Brigham and Women's Hospital after an 88-day battle with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis. Maegan was born on June 20, 1996 at Baystate Medical Center, the daughter of Michael and Doreen (Wagenknecht) Dix. She was a 2014 graduate of Norfolk County Agricultural High School and a current student at Massachusetts Bay Community College.

Maegan worked as a Patient Care Attendant at Newton Wellesley Hospital. She loved her dog and cats, but her heart belonged to her horses, Hes Peppys Badger and Charisma. She was a member of the American Ranch Horse Association and Eastern Mountain Ranch Horse Association and was just beginning to barrel race. Maegan spent countless hours with her horses and upon her feet could always be found her precious boots and spurs.

In addition to her parents, Maegan is survived by her brothers Michael Dylan and Matthew of Plainville, her sister Katie Lui, her husband Curtis and nephew Gus of Seattle, Washington, her nana Rosalyn Dix of Plainville, her grandparents Joan and Evan Croft of West Barnstable, her aunts, Susan Cancro of North Adams, Jane Moulton and her husband Daniel of Fort Ann, NY, Lois Filiault of Cheshire, Diana Dix and her husband Ken of North Kingstown, RI, Tara Croft of New York City, and her uncles, Garth Croft of Buffalo, NY, Ian Croft and his wife Tara of Saginaw, TX and David Dix of Plainville as well as many cousins.

Maegan leaves friends, Sarah Benjamin, Aldo Binda, Kaleigh Fish, Nicole Meyerjack, Marcus Vitali and many others, as well as everyone at Countryside Farms in Attleboro, Maegan's second home.

She was predeceased by her grandfathers, Kenneth Demers (1972), Richard Wagenknecht (1996) and Ronald Dix (1997), her great grandparents Donald (2011) and Florence (2014) Bishop, her great grandfather, C. Kenneth Demers (2009) and her great grandmother, Grace Barard (2004).

SERVICES: Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, September 1st from 5 - 9 pm in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleborough, MA. A celebration of Maegan's life will be held at The Oldtown Church, 675 Old Post Road, North Attleborough, MA at 11 am on Saturday, September 2nd.

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Doreen, Michael and family,

I can only imagine how hard this must be for you and the grief that you are experiencing, but in time your memories of Maegan that sadden you now will eventually help you to cope.

I recall a quote that former Vice President Joe Biden once made that best describes what I am trying to express and I paraphrase:

There will come a day, I promise you, when the thought of your loved one brings a smile to your lips before it brings a tear to your eye. It will happen. My prayer for you is that day will come sooner or later.. but Im telling you it will come.

Remembering you and Maegan today and always.
