Mark Warren Obituary

Mark Warren, 73, of Richmond, MA passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 18, surrounded by his loving family.

Mark was the son of John and Mary Warren of Plymouth, MA. He is survived by his loving wife, Laurie Donovan; his daughters Holly, Sarah, and Emily; his stepson Patrick Donovan; and his grandchildren Raeayn and Griffin. His brothers Jack, David, and Thomas Warren. His sisters Nancy Warren-Pitha, Marylee Murphy (deceased) and Conni DiLego. Mark also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends throughout Berkshire County, who helped to make his last days full of life, laughter, and love.

Mark worked as a contractor in the Berkshires in the early 1990's. He and Alison Collins owned and ran Just Stuff, featuring antiques in Lenox, and then Country Home Antiques until 1994.

He then pursued his education in mental health and earned a Master's degree from MCLA, N. Adams as a Licensed Mental Health Clinician. He worked at Genesis Club in Worcester from 1996 - 2004 specializing in the "Clubhouse" model, a residence in which people struggling with mental health were assisted in their efforts finding a job, a home, and returning to mainstream life. He traveled internationally, training clinicians for people struggling with mental health.

In 2005, back in the Berkshires, Mark returned to carpentry for a while and then became employed by the Brien Center in Pittsfield. He worked on the Crisis Team at BMC helping seriously traumatized patients. He continued to advocate for the "Clubhouse" model at Pomeroy House in Pittsfield. He was deeply dedicated to his career in mental health.

After retiring from Brien Center in 2018, he became a strong advocate and volunteer for the Hancock Shaker Village. He earned the title of "Preparator" for his excellent and creative carpentry skills in preparing exhibits.

Those who knew Mark will remember him as loving, caring, a "foodie", humorous, and full of music. Mark was a very talented musician, specializing in guitar, piano and voice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care of the Berkshires.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held in Richmond in early June.

I remember Mark from High School. He was a year ahead of me, but I was good friends with his brother David. I remember Mark as a super friendly, upbeat person who was always a pleasure to be around. It doesn't surprise me that he was a great success in life. God bless all of Mark's family and friends.

I just heard of Mark's passing. We were good friends and spent much time together some years past. Mark was a talented fellow who constantly tried and succeeded in bettering himself. He was a highly empathetic person, with a variety of skills: an excellent mimic, musician and recontour. Best of luck, Mark. You will be missed.

I remember Mark from living next to him growing up in Hinsdale so many years ago. I remember he once tried to get me to learn the bass guitar so we could form a band. I had no talent but he kept up his interest in music. I am sorry to hear of his passing and my condolences to his family
