NORTH ADAMS -- Neil Francis Hanlon, 61, of 150 Ashland St. died yesterday at North Adams Commons.
Born in North Adams on Oct.10, 1946, son of Anita Raymond Hanlon and the late Charles Hanlon, he attended schools in Williamstown, including Mount Greylock Regional High School. He was a graduate of McCann High School drafting program in North Adams.
A Vietnam War veteran, Mr. Hanlon served with the Air Force as computer programmer.
After his military career, he moved to Salem, N.H. and Lowell, N.H. and later worked as a taxi driver in Charlotte, N.C. He moved back to the Berkshires in the early 1980s and was employed for several construction companies in the area. He was master carpenter for the Williamstown Summer Theatre festival and was a accomplished artist, painter and poet.
He was a communicant of St. Patrick and Raphael Parish in Williamstown, and a member of the North Adams Vietnam Veterans Association.
Besides his mother of Williamstown, Mr. Hanlon leaves a sister, Nora B. Hanlon of Guilderland, N.Y., and three brothers, Mark W. Hanlon of Sterling, and Kevin C. Hanlon and Kyle J. Hanlon, both of North Adams.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Neil Francis Hanlon, who died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, will take place Friday at 11 a.m. at the Sherman Burbank Memorial Chapels in Williamstown with the Rev. Mark Burke as the celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Veterans Circle at Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. At his request there are no calling hours. Memorial Donations are suggested for the Village Ambulance through FLYNN AND DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Survivors include, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by a brother, Glen R. Hanlon, who died Nov. 17, 2006.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
