Nick understood the value of higher education. Years ago, when he served on the Board of Regents and I was president of Berkshire Community College, he made sure that UMass and local colleges were supported. He was always approachable, and made decisions at high speed.

My deepest sympathy to Nick´s family. I had the privilege to know Nick through my daughter, who helped care for his wife Ruth. My daughter formed a close bond with Nick through the years and called him Gramps! Nick was a caring exceptional man with high values.
Love & prayers...

I remember going to Uncle Nick´s house as a child. He and Ruth were always so welcoming. I am very proud to be the third generation to get an engineering degree from UMass.

I met Nick soon after I came to Pittsfield as the new Executive Director of the Berkshire Museum. His enthusiasm about the museum's educational programs for children was inspiring, and his long-time support through an endowment underscored his commitment. He told me how much he enjoyed seeing (from his window where he lived next door) the school buses pull up to the museum and all of the excited students going in and out of the building. His kindness and generosity are inspirational, and his impact will continue for generations.

(David). Nick was best manager I ever worked for. He was demanding, honest and fair. He gave me honest performance appraisals and salary reviews. At one point, I left GE and he helped me get backs back in, and he fully supported my efforts to install robotics in the bushings department.
(Bonnie). In the late fifties, Nick and I were members of the Dalton Congregation Church choir. Nick was not a trained singer, but he sang a lusty tenor and was a joyful presence. For some reason, I remember the bright (hand knitted?) sweaters he often wore, a lovely contrast to the conservative suits he wore to work.
A fine and memorable man!
