Peter Marchetti Obituary
Born in Pittsfield, MA, the son of the late William and Cecelia Ostellino Marchetti on November 2, 1944, he attended Pittsfield Public Schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1962.
In 1965, Peter enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country until his honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 1970.
He was employed for 36 years by General Electric Plastics, Martin Marietta, Lockheed Martin, and General Dynamics until his retirement in 2001. Pete coached North Minor League baseball for many years and was a bowling coach for the Pittsfield Junior League. He played softball in a General Electric League. He was a member of the Pittsfield Bowling Association for decades and was inducted into the Pittsfield Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He bowled in the Berkshire Business Men's and the Utility League for decades.
Pete was a member of the ITAM Lodge in Pittsfield as well as the Elks in Dunedin, FL.
Pete enjoyed his sports teams and was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 57 years, the former Kathleen Nolan, whom he married on July 1, 1967, at St. Mark's Church. He leaves behind his son, Peter Marchetti; his daughter Ann Card and her husband Kurt; his grandson Joseph Woronick II; his sisters Carol Carmel and Marie Fassell and his brother-in-law, James Chilton. He leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by his sister Joann Chilton, his son-in-law Jeffrey Hunt, and his brother-in-law John Nolan.
Funeral Notice:
Funeral services for Peter L. Marchetti will be Friday, May 24, 2024, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Joseph's Church, celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, Pastor of St. Mary's Church in Westfield. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter's memory can be made to the Pittsfield Parade Committee in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home.

I can remember Peter mostly with a baseball glove in his hand back in the early 60´s on his was to a game or practice.
He ALWAYS had something nice to say.
I met up with him a few years back at the G.E.A.A. and was still the great guy I remember.
My condolences to the Marchetti family.
