Peter A. Raczynski 1943 - 2009 PITTSFIELD Peter A. Raczynski, 66, of 21 Westchester Ave., Pittsfield, died Friday evening, Nov. 6, 2009, at home. Born in New York City on Nov. 10, 1943, son of Zygmund and Helen Roushinko Raczynski, he moved to Amsterdam, N.Y., at a young age and then to Pittsfield and was a 1962 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mr. Raczynski worked as a mechanic for the Dufour Tours Bus Co. in Hinsdale for 30 years and then Village Truck Sales in Lanesboro for 10 years. He was a member of the Pittsfield Sportsman's Club. He was an Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. Mr. Raczynski was a communicant of St. Charles Church and a former communicant of the former Holy Family Church. He leaves his wife, the former Portia Marsh-Shackette, whom he married on Aug. 31, 1968, in Holy Family Church. He also leaves two sons, Michael Raczynski of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., and Joseph Raczynski of Clearwater, Fla., two grandchildren, Emilie and Jamie, and a brother, James Raczynski of Amsterdam, N.Y. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Peter A. Raczynski will be Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at 9 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Charles Church, celebrated by the Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, from 4-7 p.m. If friends desire, donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the American Cancer Society, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, in his memory.
