R. Joyner Obituary

Cummington - R. Clark Joyner, 83, of Dodwells Rd., passed away Tuesday November 1, 2016 in his home. Born in Northampton August 13, 1933, he was the son of the late Leslie and Grace (Knapp) Joyner. He was educated in local schools, attending Northampton High School and Smith Vocation High School.

He lived all of his life in Cummington. On June 30, 1956, Clark and Cynthia were married and purchased the dairy farm which they owned and operated together for 60 years. Clark was a 55 year member of the Holstein Friesian Association and received multiple milk production awards from the Dairy Herd Improvement Association. The farm remains in operation today. Clark was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed playing pitch at the Deerhill Rod & Gun Club.

His greatest enjoyment came from gatherings including family and friends. He will be remembered for his strength, his work ethic, his devotion to his family and his dedication to farming.

Clark is survived by his wife Cynthia (Morey) Joyner, his daughter Julie Joyner Jarnagin of Lake Charles, LA, his son Wyndom L. Joyner of Cummington, his grandchildren Pierce and Chelsea Johnson and Briana Joyner, brother, Edward, of Goshen and his sisters Phyllis Chase of Vernon, CT and Dorothy Magoon of Westbrook, CT, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Diane, brothers, Frank and Ralph and his sister Elizabeth Adams.

SERVICES: A Memorial Service for Clark will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Village Congregational Church in Cummington. Burial will be private and there are no Calling Hours. Donations in Clark's memory may be made to either the Hillside Agricultural Society, c/o Sandy Lilly, PO Box 3004, Ashfield, MA 01330 or to the Deerhill Rod & Gun Club, c/o Gerald Howes Jr., 31 Stevens Rd., Cummington, MA 01026. The Ahearn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
