PITTSFIELD -- Ray K. Bennett, 99, of 329 Pittsfield Road, Devonshire Estates, died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Chelsea on Feb. 7, 1908, daughter of Peter S. and Esther Bookbinder Kloper, she was a 1926 graduate of Chelsea High School.
A homemaker, Mrs. Bennett did volunteer work at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston for 17 years and, while in Florida, volunteered with many civic and cultural groups. In Pittsfield, she did volunteer work at Temple Anshe Amunim and with Pittsfield Downtown Associates.
She was a longtime member of Temple Anshe Amunim and a former member of Temple Beth Zion in Brookline. She enjoyed the arts.
Her husband, Samuel Bennett, whom she married March 27, 1932, died Aug. 6, 1992.
She leaves a son, Morris Bennett of Pittsfield; a daughter, Sandra Sharet of St. Paul, Minn.; two sisters, Stella Weisman of Wilmington, Del., and Miriam Stryer of Detroit; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Ray Kloper Bennett, 99, who died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, will be conducted Sunday at 10 a.m. at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME by Rabbi Mark Wieder, spiritual leader of Temple Anshe Amunim. Burial will follow in the Temple Anshe Amunim section of Pittsfield Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Temple Anshe Amunim in care of the funeral home. The family will receive guests at the family home, 85 Edward Ave., following the service Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. Mrs. Bennett also leaves a daughter-in-law, Anne Roland.
