Richard Duprey Obituary

Richard A. Duprey 1929-2011 NORTH ADAMS- Richard A. Duprey, 82 of 6 Navajo Dr. died Tuesday afternoon March 1, 2011at the North Adams Commons Care Center. Born in Adams on January 10, 1929, son of the late Louis and Minnie Morgan Duprey. He attended Adams schools after which he in listed in the US Navy serving aboard the US Destroyer Los Angeles during World War II. After his honorable discharge from the service he returned to Adams and became employed with the General Electric Co. in Pittsfield as a Technician for over twenty years. Mr. Duprey then moved to Nashua N.H., where he worked first for the Sanders Associates and then for Teradyne Inc. He returned to Adams in 1987 and became employed with the former Jarisch Paper Box Co. in North Adams. He also taught Culinary Arts at the McCann Technical Vocational High School in North Adams. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Adams. A member and Past Commander of North Adams Post 125 of the American Legion, Adams Post 1995of VFW, Berkshire Lodge of Masons, a member and past officer of Franklin Chapter 92 Order of the Eastern Star both in Adams and the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 310 in North Adams. Also he was a member and former trustee of the Adams Lodge of Elks # 1335. His first wife the former Jane Letourneau died August 28, 1981. He is survived by his second wife the former Theresa Belanger Rose whom he married on November 7, 1987. One daughter, Deborah Rice and her husband William of Merrimack N.H. One stepson Craig L. Rose and his wife Jennifer of Adams. One stepdaughter, Colleen Medd of Florida. Five grandchildren, two step grandchildren and several great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, James, Louis and Robert Duprey, two sisters Mary Ziter and Edith Peltier. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Richard A. Duprey will take place Monday, March 7, 2011 at 12 noon from the Trottier Pringle Funeral Home, 6 Summer St. Adams. With the Rev. Donald Gray, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Dick was a warmhearted, humorous, generous humanitarian. I will miss him so much! Please accept my condolences on his passing.

We certainly had some fantastic times at the Elks! The memories still bring sunshine in my life!
