Robert J. Beischel

1929-2014 PITTSFIELD Robert John Beischel, 85, a resident of Pittsfield from 1955 until January 2014, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Abington Lansdale Hospital in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Born on March 29, 1929, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, the son of John and Rose Hahn Beischel, he was a 1947 graduate of Beloit (Wisconsin) High School. A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Beischel enlisted with the United States Air Force on February 2, 1941. He served a three-year tour of duty in Germany. He was honorably discharged on August 23, 1954. Mr. Beischel was employed by General Electric Company where he was a design draftsman. He retired in 1991 with 36 years service. Mr. Beischel was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. He enjoyed playing golf, swimming, fishing, and painting scenic landscapes of the beautiful Berkshires. He looked forward to spending time with family and their annual vacations to Ogunquit, Maine. Mr. Beischel leaves his wife, the former Barbara Halloran, whom he married April 30, 1955, in Westfield. He is also survived by a son, John Beischel and his wife, Greta, of Worcester; a daughter, Karen Arcuri and her husband, James, of Schwenksville, Penn.; three grandchildren, Katie Rausch, Davin Beischel, and Cameron Beischel; and two great grandchildren twins, Rylan and Brennan Rausch. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Robert John Beischel will be held Monday, May 12, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield celebrated by Rev. Peter M. Naranjo, II., Parochial Vicar. Calling hours will precede the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield. Burial with military honors will be on Monday, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Mary's Cemetery (203 Southampton Road, Route 20) in Westfield.
