Robert Phillips, 83, died Friday afternoon at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield with his wife, Janice, by his side. He was born in Pittsfield on March 13, 1938, the son of George J. and Doris E. Brewer Phillips and was a 1956 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 until 1958. After the service he was employed by various trucking firms for 30 years including Old Colony and Filkins Transportation.
He was last employed by the Lenox D.P.W. for 10 years retiring in 2001. He was a 50 year member of the Crescent Lodge of Masons in Pittsfield and a member of the Greenock Country Club. Bob and his wife enjoyed traveling but his favorite past time was a good pitch game with family and friends. Bob will be remembered by his smile, his generous heart but mostly by his quick wit and sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife the former Janice N. Hannon whom he married September 2, 1977; one sister: Judith Tobler of Pittsfield; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers: Llyod, George R. and Daniel and two sisters: JoAnn Regan and Helen Bailey.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 15th at 11 AM at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lee. Friends wishing may make donations in his memory to the Lee Ambulance in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home 3 Main Street Lee, MA 01238.
