NORTH ADAMS -- Russell Edward Yarter, 71, of 448 Union St. died yesterday at North Adams Commons.
Born in North Adams on Feb. 1, 1935, son of Edward and Orvilla Baker Yarter, he graduated from Drury High School.
He was a former member of the Massachusetts National Guard.
Mr. Yarter was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for 44 years, retiring in 1997.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking.
His wife, the former Theresa Matuszak, whom he married Oct. 11, 1957, at St. Stanislaus' Church in Adams, died Jan. 20.
He leaves four daughters, Brenda Wimpenney of Nashua, N.H., Kim Yarter of Hinsdale, Paula Yarter of the town of Florida and Tammy Daury of North Adams; nine grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Graveside services for Russell E. Yarter, who died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, will take place at a later date in the family plot in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for the charity of the donor's choice through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. He also leaves two sons-in-law, Robert Gaudette and Steve Wimpenney.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
