Stanley Andrew Dzierga

1921 - 2015 ADAMS Mr. Stanley Andrew Dzierga, 93, of 43 Meadow St., Adams, died on Thursday, Mar. 5, at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown. He was born in Adams on Dec. 27, 1921, a son of the late Andrew and Anna (Gabiga) Dzierga. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School. Following his graduation he had attended machinist school in Pittsfield. Mr. Dzierga was a Veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Army. He fought in the battle of Normandy, as well as in Sicily, Northern France, Germany and Africa. He received numerous medals, including the Silver Star, and was Honorably Discharged as a Staff Sergeant on October 3, 1945. Mr. Dzierga worked for over 30 years for the United States Postal Service in Adams until his retirement. Earlier he had worked for the former Arnold Print Works, Adams. He was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. He was a longtime member of the Maple Grove Civic Club, Adams Post 160 American Legion, the Mountain Club, the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Society, the 16th Infantry Regiment Association and the Society of the First Infantry Division. He is also honored on the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Frances Dzierga, whom he married on May 17, 1947; one daughter, Sharon Lipka and her husband, Paul, of Adams; two sons, Andrew Dzierga and his wife, Bette, and Stephen Dzierga and his wife, Rose, all of Adams; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Jessica Dzierga, both of Boston, Jeremy Lipka of Adams, Sara Morneau of Sudbury, Jordanna Dzierga of Hartford, Conn., and Briell Dzierga of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph, and Frank Dzierga; and by four sisters, Josephine Sikorski, Helen Kurpaska, Mary Vigna, and Cecelia Wiater. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held on Monday, March 9, at 9 a.m. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, celebrated by the Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Sunday from 3 - 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka School, 108 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220 or to the Parish of St. John Paul II, P.O. Box 231, Adams, MA 01220.
