Wayne Post Obituary

Wayne F. Post, Jr.

1961 - 2014 CHESTER - Wayne F. Post, Jr., 53, passed away on Aug. 21, dying much as he lived, with stoicism, grace, and humor. Originally born in Orlando, Fla., he went on to serve in the United States Navy at various stations including Iceland, Japan, and Wales. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland while serving and raising a young family. He retired after 20 years due to his illness, with an unspoiled record and full honors on Aug.10, 1998. He was a philanthropist of the heart, devoting his time and many talents to various organizations supporting education, animal welfare, and Veterans. He was a devoted spouse and father, instilling in his children a love of literature and a sense of civic responsibility. His life was a testament to compassion and unconditional love. It was his wish to thank all of the dedicated professionals who assisted with his care and offered their friendship over the last several years. Mr. Post is survived by his wife, Patricia; his son, Thomas; his daughter, Shahnon, his daughter and her significant other, Shauna Post and Steve Szklarz; and honorary daughter, Michelle Lavalley. He will be remembered fondly by his two grandchildren, Amy and Sebastian. FUNERAL NOTICE: A service honoring the life of Wayne F. Post will be held at the O'BRIEN HILLTOWN FUNERAL HOME, 27 Russell Road, Huntington, on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. Calling hours will be held from 5 -7 p.m. that same evening. I have known Wayne for a few years in a professional capacity. He dealt with his illness with dignity, wit and humor, rarely failing to make me laugh. He will be missed.
