William Higgins Obituary

William D. Higgins 1946-2010 GREAT BARRINGTON William D. Higgins passed away Friday July 23, in the care of Hospice of West Palm Beach, after a short illness. He was born March 3, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York, son of Stephen and Marie VanWicklen Higgins. He attended schools in Brooklyn and Great Barrington. He graduated from the former Searles High School class of 1966. After moving to Florida, Bill worked at Publix Market and continued his interest in the Civil War. He was an extra in Glory of the 54 Mass Infantry. Bill is survived by his sister Ann M. Waldman of Great Barrington, his nieces Noel and Donald Critchly and family of Torrington, Conn., and Mary Waldman-Seay and Jeff Seay and family of Deltaville, Va., nephew Charles and Martha Waldman and Family of Victor, N.Y. , and a niece Emily Wagner and husband, Mike and family of Great Barrington. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial mass will be celebrated by the Reverend William P. Murphy at 10 a.m. on August 7, in St. Peter's Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Memories and light refreshments may be shared after the burial at 54 Castle Hill Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter's restoration fund, 16 Russell St. Great Barrington, MA. 01230, or to North Adams Chapter, MCLF, 184 Maple Street, North Adams, MA. 01047.
