Melvie Niez Obituary

March 1, 1944 - March 27, 2025
Born in Clovis, New Mexico, and passed away at home surrounded by family after a valiant and prolonged battle with lung cancer. She is survived by her husband of thirty-six (36) years, Robert "Bob" Niez; their 4 children, Bonita "Bunny" May, Nicole "Nikki" Oulette, Michael and Christopher Niez; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mel worked hard; at Underground Service Alert she implemented the system that is now 811. An animal lover; she bred and trained dogs, especially Irish Wolfhounds. After meeting and marrying Bob she worked with him running their business in Big Bear, "A" Plumbing. Bob and Mel joined the Big Bear Lions Club in 1992. Mel held many positions at the club and district levels which earned her many awards including a Melvin Jones and Progressive Melvin Jones awards-the highest award a Lion can receive. As District Governor for District 4L5 she achieved 100% Governor Status and was awarded the International Leadership Medal. SHE WILL BE MISSED!
Mass: St Joseph Catholic Church 42242 North Shore, Big Bear, California on May 10, 2025; Rosary at 11:30 and Mass @ noon with reception to follow. Memorial Celebration of Life and Interment: May 24, 2025 @ Desert View Mortuary, 11478 Amargosa Road, Victorville, California 92392

I used to work at the DWP and spoke to Mel on the phone over the years. I remember she was such a nice person. Sympathies to Bob and family.
