Dr. Donald W. Stansloski passed quietly in his sleep on March 7, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Patricia; daughter Lynn and husband James Miller of Ann Arbor, MI; daughter Lee and husband Theodore Rose of Xenia, OH; son Mitchell and wife Leslie Arnold of Fort Collins, CO; son Steven and wife Teresa of Findlay, OH; eight grandchildren and their spouses and five great-grandchildren. Don is also survived by three brothers, two sisters and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Don was born on June 22, 1939 in Big Rapids, MI.
Don received his Bachelor of Pharmacy from Ferris State University (then Ferris Institute) in 1961. He then received his Master's and PhD of Pharmacy from the University of Nebraska and taught there until 1972. He continued teaching at Ohio Northern University, Ada, Ohio until his retirement in 1995. He was a Fulbright Scholar and taught at the University of Harare, Zimbabwe in 1984. In 2004, he joined the University of Findlay, Findlay, Ohio as the founding dean of the new College of Pharmacy. He retired from the position as a Dean Emeritus. His latest work was with the Rural Health Group of Northeast Michigan doing research and analysis of the causes of problems and discrepancies in the health systems of northern Michigan.
Over the years he has authored and co-authored several books on pharmacy and health care.
He loved sailing. He sailed on inland lakes, Lake Erie, Lake Huron, Lake Superior and with his son in the Caribbean. He also was an avid reader. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the house on Cedar Lake in Greenbush, MI.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 26, at 1:00 p.m. followed by an open house from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Winebrenner Auditorium at the University of Findlay, 1000 W. Main St., Findlay, OH 45840.
