MOUNT PLEASANT -- Doris M. (Alfredson) Himebaugh, 97, of Mount Pleasant, passed away on July 21, 2017, at Maplewood of Mount Pleasant.
A memorial service for Doris will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Pastor Greg Buchner officiating. Visitation will take place beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon will immediately follow at the Reflections Reception Center in Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church of Mecosta, Isabella County Commission on Aging or Great Lakes Caring Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Doris was born Nov. 30, 1919, to Leon and Fannie (Langtry) Spitzer in Lansing. She retired from General Motors, Oldsmobile Division, with 30 years of service in the administration offices in Lansing. Doris served as secretary, treasurer, vice president, president and advisor of the Oldsmobile Girls Club. She was also a member of the Oldsmobile bowling league and a member of the Oldsmobile Girls Golf League. In 1999, she married Evart Himebaugh and he preceded her in death in 2004.
Doris was a long-time member of the New Hope United Methodist Church in Mecosta and served as one of their lay speakers. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed occasional international travel. Doris will be dearly missed and remembered by all who knew her -- family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and fellow golfers.
She is survived by her sister, Leona Oakes, of Okemos; her niece, Marty Kadrofske, of Interlochen; a devoted ex-daughter-in-law, Marcia Andrews, of Bath; seven grandchildren and their spouses; her eleven great-grandchildren; and a step-granddaughter, Natalie.
Doris was also preceded in death by her parents and her son, James T. Alfredson.

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Doris since my mom is also at Maplewood. I stopped often to chat with her. A dear lady.
